As usual catastrophe always strikes when you least expect it, the computer died and I was unable to revive it to update for the Poachers gig. Well it went really well, ending with the wife handing a cheque over for £1,100, this is all down to our customers and the businesses that supplied raffle prizes.
We like to think of ourselves as a family pub and belonging to the community the Poachers gig proved it.
We serve good old pub grub Wednesday through Sunday with proper home cooked chips and most of the menu prepared in house, Sunday is an all day carvery with a choice of 3 meats with all the usual accompaniments.
We have a popular pensioners lunch club on Thursdays that is very well subscribed too, with a menu based on what they ask for. We run frequent raffles for local charities as well as supporting other events in the Town.
Saturday nights have become live band nights and frequent jamming nights. Jamming nights are a very informal suck it and see affair with no theme or schedule, although attended by several very talented musicians with a growing input from the learners in the group more inspiration from outside would be greatly received. We had a Sax player turn up a few weeks ago and was the conversation topic for many an evening. I have to say these nights usually turn into a communal sing song
We have a cosy smoking shelter as well as a popular courtyard/beer-garden.
A real fire adds to the cosy ambiance inside the pub.
With a biking Landlord, bikers are welcome, Jam and Deano a couple of local RD owners have started a Thursday evening 2 stroke meet.
